You really should fill in the ‘About’ section of the page instead of leaving the default wordpress information in. It would lend more credibility to the website instead of just being a source for hearsay between proponents and opponents.

    -Thank you

  2. We visited Eagle Rock late Sunday afternoon. Aside from seeing several friends the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. The true owners of the land were practicing stewardship with a conscience. All of us should take note and commit to supporting KBIC and friends at Eagle Rock. Let your conscience be your guide… see you at Eagle Rock.

  3. This site is absolutely great! And to think you got it up & running so quickly!

My heartfelt thanks to all of you who are standing up and speaking out.

I’m sending this “blogsite’s” address to all my friends.

    Thank you again!

  4. I have traveled to Eagle Rock each of the past 3 days and have witnessed an outpouring of support. Citizens of Big Bay and Marquette have donated food, water, sleeping bags, blankets, tents, and other provisions to support the brave women who first arrived Friday night and others who have arrived since. We have made sure that they were welcomed and safe at all times.

A sacred fire will be kept going for the duration of this ceremony to honor the ancestors who walked these ways, to call together people of all nations and faiths, to protect the land and water for future generations, and to call attention to a need for justice to keep public lands open to the public and uphold treaty rights.

Members of KBIC have told me that they welcome people of all faiths and ethnicity who wish to honor this sacred site. Faith leaders are encouraged to visit the site and consult with KBIC leaders to coordinate logistics if they wish to hold services in adjacent locations.

If you are unable to travel to Eagle Rock, your prayers and intentions will be appreciated all the same, as the spirit knows no bounds.

I want to thank all who have worked so hard to make this possible, and thank in advance all who are willing to give of their time and resources to support the effort.

  5. We feel very strongly about this topic and welcome you to create a profile on our Upper Peninsula social network, MarquetteSocial.com. We will prominently feature any writings, photos and videos that you post on our site.

  6. This protest is wonderful. Here’s a prayer based on several suggestions.

“Mother Earth is healthy and peaceful. Love surrounds and flows from Eagle Rock. Blessings to the sacred keepers of Eagle Rock, the Yellow Dog Plains, and Mother Earth. Blessings to the Rio Tinto and Kennecott executives who turn to smile and wave as they walk away from this project. Blessings to this harmonious transformation!”

My prayers and support to all that are doing the right thing!! Our Mother Earth and our Ancestors are sad for the wrongs that are still happening yet. I stand strong in our prayers for our sacred sites and for our ways!

  9. I just want to say thank you for all your support. It is not going unoticed.
Thank you everyone for helping us in the process of taking down Kennecott!

  10. I would like to feature this concern in my magazines. I also have some thoughts on obtaining more support for the cause, but I’d like to get proper approvals from local Tribal folks first. I don’t know who to write to.

  11. Our hearts are with you! In Utah, we are fighting the pollution of a massive mine operated by Kennecott/Rio Tinto. Kennecott is a monster, hurting and displacing people wherever it goes. We stand in solidarity with the Keewenaw Bay Indian Community!

    Dear Friends,

Thank you for your actions and commitment to honor and protect our Mother Earth and its waters. It is also very commendable that you are honoring and protecting Migizii wa sin (Eagle Rock) that is part of the Anishinaabe Nation’s Culture and Traditional ways.

“If we have no regard for our past, our future will not be worth remembering”.
That has been a favorite quote of ours for a number of years.

Below is a link about a documented study done 9 years ago. It’s about traditional Ojibway values and beliefs in the Western Great Lakes. Among other very important insights as you read, water and pollution are foremost concerns.

    Keep up the good work.

  13. I pray for you all. The greedy corporations destroy mother earth without a care. This has to stop before mother earth is totally destroyed by it. I am proud of the ones taking a stand in trying to protect what is theres from destruction. Nature is so peaceful and beautiful, i have seen the beauty and felt the peace in the wild and i am blessed to have experienced it . I had the good fortune to be able to take nature for granted as a boy growing up . I fear the children of the near future will not have that as if this destruction continues it will be only known in stories , gone forever.

Hello! I am currently learning about sacred places and the defense of those places in one of my college classes. I am quite interested in this particular subject, and was wondering if there was a way for me to get involved in the defense of Eagle Rock.
    Thanks!
